Our Classes
D and L DANCE CENTER provides classes for the recreational, pre-professional and professional dancer. Our Competition Teams have built a name for themselves and for D and L by winning a wide range of solo & team 1st place and overall titles, providing distinction to both the dancer and the school. D and L DANCE CENTER also has a wonderful voice and piano program enabling us to provide a well rounded performing arts experience.
In August of 2010, we took the biggest step in D and L Dance’s history by moving into a 2800+ square foot space in the Alafaya Village Shopping Area. We have 2 dance rooms; 1 of over 800 square feet and 1 of over 1100 square feet separated by an operable wall that provides the flexibility of using the space as 1 huge room! To insure a safe and proper dance experience, we’ve installed a custom built floating floor with a Marley dance surface, ideal for all forms of dance.
D and L DANCE CENTER also has a wonderful voice and piano program enabling us to provide a well rounded performing arts experience.

Ballet
Focuses on classical barre technique, exercises across the floor, combinations and ballet terminology.
Tap
Tap dancing characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. Two major variations of Tap Dance exist: Rythm Tap and Broadway Tap. Broadway Tap focuses on dance; it is widely performed in Musical Theater. Rythm Tap focuses on musicality, rhythm and timing.
Lyrical
A slower style of jazz pulling from ballet technique using turned out and parallel positions. Lyrical dance is usually performed to complement the lyrics of a song, telling a story through movement.
Modern/Contemporary
A style of dance derived from ballet that incorporates free movement and concepts.
Jazz
Student learns rhythm, syncopation, isolation and improvisation in this introductory class. Basic jazz vocabulary and technique are taught and individual expression and style are encouraged. Students gain strength, flexibility, endurance and coordination.
Hip Hop
A style of dance made popular by street dancers. Dancers will learn rhythm, style, and improvisation. This style doesn’t focus on technique, but allows each student to find their individual style in relation to the music.
Musical Theatre
Musical Theatre is a Jazz-based class that focuses on technique and theatricality. This form of dancing puts emphasis on learning performance skills such as facial expressions and connecting with an audience.
Tiptoe and Tap
Designed specifically for preschool dancers, Tiptoe & Tap provides a fun experience that encourages creative thinking and self expression while learning basic tap and ballet movements. Building strength, flexibility, and coordination, Tiptoe & Tap preschool dancers will also learn important social skills as they interact with their new found friends.
AcroDance
A class designed to introduce basic tumbling principles while emphasizing on strength and flexibility. There will be ability requirements to progress.
Voice
Individual and group voice lessons are available for all students who wish to discover their own unique voice. Customized lesson plans and a variety of musical styles are offered to suit many different musical tastes.
Piano
Classes are offered on an individual basis and encompass all basic piano skills including; proper hand and body positions, music notation, sight reading, scales, chords, improvisation, and basic music theory. Song repertoire is chosen based on the students interests and is always level appropriate. A wonderful class for every student looking for a solid introductory understanding of music.
